Hey Everyone!
I hope you all had a great
Mother's Day! This past week was fun because our investigators Maria Noami and
Joe were able to come to the Mother's Day dinner on Friday at the stake
building. The Spanish ward was in charge of the dinner and the set up. They did a fantastic job. They cooked a dish
called Beidria which is beef post roast cooked in a Latin marinade along with
rice and beans. REALLY GOOD! They had a little talent show afterward performed
by the primary kids from both the English and Spanish wards. Our investigators
loved it! I was a great end to the week especially because the beginning of the
week wasn't as great. Elder Anglade's bike broke twice so we spent a lot of
time fixing that, so it was pretty frustrating. But it was all worth it in the
end. We had the Mother's Day dinner, the next day on Saturday we had dinner
with Hermana Flores and her nephew, Victor, who had been traveling the last 2
weeks to NYC. Victor is planning on staying in the area now to look for work so
we are excited to be teaching him more. He's super pumped about the church and
the missionaries. Also yesterday after we called home we visited a family that
we ran into this week. We taught the father, Thomas, a little about our beliefs
and what we do a missionaries. He really admires what we do. We said a prayer
with them before we left and it was super special to meet them. We hope to
teach them this coming week. I love finding FAMILIES! I was so happy! Things
are going so well, and I can’t wait for what’s in store this coming week!

ReplyDeleteHey, Elder! I’m glad you had a great Mother’s Day. Mine was pretty good too, although, I wasn’t feeling well most of the day and didn’t make it to church. I also felt pretty sad on Mother’s Day considering I don’t have a child yet. Oh, well. The shindig that the ward put on sounds really fun. I am interested to try that Beidria dish; I hope you can get the recipe for me. I’m glad that your investigators were able to come and participate. I hope that they can feel the Spirit through the members of that congregation and will want to be baptized. The talent show sounds like it was a huge hit among the ward members and your investigators. I bet those primary kids were really cute. I remember when we had fun activities in our ward. I hope that our home ward in St. Louis will do some entertaining activities to bring investigators to the church.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your companion’s bike. I know mine needs to be fixed up so that I can ride it again. It’s sitting outside, getting all rusty. Sad days! That is great news that Victor is showing interest in the church. I hope that he stays in contact with the missionaries. So, I’m guessing that Thomas is Victor’s father? I hope that things pan out well for them, for I’m certain that you are excited to meet with families because that means that if they all join, that the can all be sealed in the temple as a whole family unit. It is hard when some families are broken because one member chooses to join the church and the others ostracize them because they are now a member of the LDS faith. It is really sad when that occurs. Well, I hope to comment on more of your posts and continue the great work that you are doing to progress the Lord’s work! Love you lots!
